Causes: Community & Neighborhood Development, Economic Development
Mission: We own and maintain as a historical artifact and community center, a firehouse structure that was converted to a community center in 1957. Our activities are designed to build and foster a safe and caring community conducive to a healthy family life in the community and include: maintaining the firehouse structure and adjacent children's playground; providing a site for exercise classes, parties, receptions, and other activities for the benefit of the community at large; conducting seasonal events; assisting community members in understanding proposed development in the area; and other community activites including welcoming newcomers to the area, sending letters of congratulation and condolence to families as appropriate, etc.
Programs: During 2017, our program service accomplishments included:we provided space and services for regular classes offered to the community in yoga, jazzercize and music. We provided space for several community members and variety of private events during the year. We held an easter egg hunt for children and a social for adults in the community. We raised money to remodel and upgrade the bathrooms to become ada compliant. We published four quarterly newsletters and welcomed several new neighbors to pedro point.
the organization restated its articles of incorporation in order to change its name and also to elect to be governed by all the provisions of the nonprofit corporation law of 1980 of the state of california.
