Mission: Social engineering in post-conflict societies: creating educational media initiatives to help young children respect differences between selves and others. As of 2008, pii is conducting aneducational campaign in northern ireland where nearly 20,000 children, their teachers and parents benefit from the media initiatives put forth by pii. Pii is currently adapting program in columbia and the united states.
Programs: Studio lounge programstudio lounge is a teen internship art program aimed at using art to raise awareness about issues that young people face today. Teens in three locations -- boulder, medellin and bogota -- meet weekly to explore museum exhibits, plan art happenings attend events, and share experiences cross-culturally via a custom app. The groups focus on the theme of nonviolentcommunication. During weekly sessions, students respond to a photo, a quote, street art or music and respond through the app to archived conversations. Teens work together to build a cumulative event with a local artist to create a public installation. Teen reps make cross-cultural visits to share each other's installations. Upon return, a live stream event combines all projects and shares the outcomes. Projects to be archived in colombia's museo casa de lamemoria/museo de memoria historica and boulder museum of contemporary art.

The united states is adapting this program for our pre-schools in boulder, co. The family learning center is leading this adaptation. Eco -envisioning community oneness: advancing inclusiveness and intercultural diversity --promotes and builds peace with and for all people in our community. Even in a liberal community such as boulder, we are not immune to issues of nonexclusiveness and devaluing people of diverse backgrounds. Because of disenfranchised populations communities often suffer the impact of racial, psychological and physical barriers. This program combines 60-second tv animation and radio stories, character dolls, classroom materials and an innovativecurriculum. To impact the entire community, we train teachers and parents.

Colombia is committed to helping theirchildren recover from 50 years of armed conflict with innovative programs based on peacebuilding. Mifc helps to generate greater inclusion and more resilient children. We do this bypositively shifting negative attitudes and behaviors that degrade the "other. " we provideyoung children the skills to share respect for racial, ethnic, cultural, sectarian and physicaldifferences - as a path toward preparing our children for a more peaceful future.
