Causes: Human Services
Mission: Faith based community support serving the local community regardless of religious affiliation or belief. Relevant programs are provided that offer collaborative connections across the many economic populations by building trust, integrity and respect.
Programs: Education and development programs - a multiple- tiered program is offered to families who want to become self-sustainable/efficient. The "getting ahead" program is the first tier and is a 10 week program that encourages and leads families to build and develop their own plan. The "staying ahead" program is the second tier available to graduates of the "getting ahead" program. Partner families meet weekly to develop those resources focused on in getting ahead and are provided with support and goal setting assistance. Community support by way of an evening meal is shared by partner families and community supporters and a host church family. Tier 3 is the "financial ense" program that is a faith based 6 week money management program that supports families as they create their own financial plan. The bridges out of poverty and poverty simulation programs are available for middle class and higher income families to promote understanding of lower income family challenges. In 2017, 742 hours of in-classroom programming was provided to local families.
relief services; including "crisis intervention" - temporary assistance to lower income individuals and families in financial crisis. Assistance may include utility payments, personal identification required to start new employment, work boots, or personal care items. In 2017 1781 intakes were completed in this service area. 241 households utilized the person needs pantry for household items, and 352 non-repeated families were assisted with utility shut-off notices. At the "christmas shop" - a reciprocity based christmas program that allows families to volunteer their time or resources and then shop for their children 238 children were served. Additional relief services include "christian auto repair- and "tax assistance- and "household" items. 88 additional non-duplicated families received assistance in these areas. Relief services meet immediate needs and start relationships where additional educational resources are recommended.
caregivers - in 2017. Caregiver drivers provided 610 rides to persons over the age of 62, for transportation to appointments, on-line grocery shopping and pick-up, and other errands. Volunteers spent over 1000 hours and donated 7000 miles on the road to assist their clients in remaining in their own homes despite not being able to drive.
