Tell your story here and help others understand this charity I have worked with this organization in two different states. I joined in 2006 when my middle son joined the Army. It has been a great organization to be a part of. There is nothing like having some one understand the roller coaster of emotions of having a child deployed. At one point I had two son's in harms way. Our chapter works with homeless vets at the 4th largest homeless veterans shelter in the nation. We not only work to support the men at the shelter but work to engage them in helping others. They open their dining area for us to pack boxes to send to the troops. We have done this several times and they have it down to a science. We can pack 300 boxes in 1 1/2 hours. We work with the local Patriot Guard and the shelter to do an annual dinner for our Gold Star families. We want them to know that their child's sacrifice is never forgotten. I would recommend this organization to any person wanting to support the troops. They are wonderful.
I think this is a great orgainzation. I wish my mom new about you guys when I was deployed. I think it would have helped her alot. Now she is sharing her wisdom from my two deployments with others.
I have been a Blue Star Mother for 4 years. We send care packages to our troops as many times a year as possible depending on our donations. We recieve letters of thanks from service members who have felt forgotten by the rest of the US. I am honored to be a member of an organization that my great grandmother was a part of when my great uncles were serving in WWII. I can count on my BSM for support when I am feeling scared for my sons safety
I have been a part of many groups, but the Blue Star Mothers is BY FAR the most selfless, tireless, Loving and supportive group of people I have ever worked with. My son, SFC Steven Hernandez will be deployed for the 4th time soon, and I KNOW my BSM family will be there whenever I am having a hard time coping with the "what ifs". We send out hundreds of packages 3 times a year to soldiers, who may never receive anything otherwise. We get emails and letters letting us know how much difference our hard work makes in their lives. I am HONORED to be aprt of the Blue Star Mothers of America, and proud of all our solders who help make this a GREAT Country. Please consider this my vote for Blue Star Mothers of America as the GREATEST nonprofit organization EVER!!! Sincerely, Sue Hernandez AVBSM Member
I am a new (1 year) memeber of the Blue Star Mothers....but was hoored to be of assistance to a family of a fallen warrior. This group went into action immediately to let the family know there was help.
