Programs: Premiere of stanley love performance group, tapestry truths (january 13 - january 17), four evening performances at participant inc. Multi-channel installation by peter hendrick, convocation (january 24 - march 6) that presented the output of a computer program devised b y the artist to translate prominent religious texts into morse code. Participated in a city-wide celebration of justin vivian bond with the solo exhibition my model/my self (march 13 - april 10) comprised of watercolors, sculptural installation, video, and performance. Partnering with distributed art publishers and moma's friends of education, we launched the piers, a book of photographs by alvin baltrop, featuring works from the 1970s and '80s focusing on the west side piers of nyc with a discussion between glenn o'brien, randal wilcox, and yona baker. This was accompanied by an exhibition of approximately 50 photographs, many of them previously unseen, as well as ephemera on loan from the alvin baltrop trust (april 20 - april 24). The perils of obedience, a multi-disciplinary project conceived by itziar barrio (may 25 - june 16), beginning with live performances and followed by an exhibition. Performances by marja samson, miss behave (june 22 - june 29), activating a scripted environment including props, set, photographs, and films. The season concluded with a partnership with one national gay & lesbian archives in presenting things, an exhibition curated by film curator bradford nordeen in collaboration with anthology film archives, video data bank, and visual aids. Our 15th anniversary season opened with last fall's ambitious multi- venue collaboration celebrating the work of ellen cantor. Acting as manager of cantor's estate as well as a participating venue, we faciliated exhibitions at foxy production, maccarone, and nyu's 80wse gallery, with public programs organized by skowhegan, electronic arts intermix, and the museum of modern art. Concluding 2016, we presented eve fowler, 'with it which it as it if it is to be' (november 6 - december 18), a solo exhibition including a 16mm film and a neon sculpture, based on a text by gertrude stein.
