The Palm Springs Art Museum is an absolute gem in the desert. It is always a delight to visit the well curated exhibits, which lean towards modernism, but include some classical exhibits as well. The roster of events that are open to the public are superior for a museum of this size. Since moving to the desert a year ago, I have been very impressed with this lovely, au courant museum. I have a Masters of Interior Design in Sustainable Design, and I am very excited by the museum's new focus on the preservation of mid-century architecture.
This is a fabulous art museum (actually its name changed from Desert Museum to Palm Springs Art Museum in 2005)featuring modern and contemporary art, Western Art, photography, contemporary glass art, architecture and design. The building's mid-century modern architecture, set at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains in the village of Palm Springs, is a work of art in itself. Another highlight of the museum is its 433-seat Annenberg Theater.
