Mission: The Orlando Chorale is an auditioned, community chorus dedicated to the professional presentation of outstanding new and classical choral repertoire. The Chorale endeavors to enrich the Central Florida community through high-quality public and private music performances, educational outreach, and interdisciplinary collaborations with local, state and national arts organizations.
Programs: The Orlando Chorale presents classic masterworks of choral literature and contemporary compositions that appeal to the diverse culture and demographics of our audience and create opportunities for stimulation, growth and enjoyment through excellent musical performances.
With a roster of 70 professional and experienced singers, three concerts are produced annually in downtown Orlando in the acoustically superb venue of First United Methodist Church and are often repeated in other cities throughout Central Florida. When schedules allow a fourth concert features a partnership with an outstanding high school choral ensemble. Classic masterworks offered (generally with orchestra) have included: Handel’s Messiah, Poulenc’ Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem, John Rutter’s Requiem, and Vivaldi’s Gloria. Among contemporary masterpieces, audiences have enjoyed regional premiers of Libby Larsen’s dramatic cantata Eleanor Roosevelt, and Donald McCullough’s Holocaust Cantata, in addition to Conrad Susa’s Carols and Lullabies from the American Southwest, and concerts devoted entirely to new works from Southern-based and Florida composers.
