Mission: To enrich people's lives through the exhilarating experience of live orchestral music. Provide symphonic orchestral music to the greater omaha, nebraska and midwest region while producing a wide variety of concerts to reach the most diverse audiences possible. To be the primary musical resource in the region.
Programs: The omaha symphony serves its city, state, and region as an essential resource for live musical entertainment and cultural enrichment. In the 2016/17 season, the orchestra's six distinct concert series offered a diverse range of classical and popular music, attracting approximately 75,000 concert-goers from omaha and the surrounding region. With more than 50 live performances, the season's concert programming ranged from classical masterworks and chamber orchestra repertoire to broadway fare, film music, and rock 'n' roll.
annually, the omaha symphony education and community engagement programs serve more than 30,000 participants throughout the greater omaha metro area, the state of nebraska, and western iowa. Deeply committed to its educational endeavors, in any given season 30-35% of the orchestra's services are dedicated to education, community engagement, and family concert experiences. The omaha symphony provides educational programs annually for students aged pre-k through high school. Adult education programs include pre-concert lectures and conducting seminars for music educators.
