Mission: The advancement of psychoanalytic theory and its applications through educational programs, training, forums, newsletters, and professional meetings.
Programs: The northwest alliance for psychoanalytic study works to faciliatate meaningful opportunities for the ongoing development of professionals throughout the pacific northwest who value psychoanalytic theory, knowledge and practice. Many courses are offered each fall, winter and spring by various alliance members and other professionals from the wider psychoanalytic community. Alliance education committee sponsored courses generally require pre-enrollment and are offered in one of the three following formats:classes: courses offered by a specific instructor(s) with a specific fee structure. Seminars: courses offered by a specific instructor(s) at no cost to alliance members. Each april, for more than 25 years, the northwest psychoanalytic community has come together to experience the forum -- the alliance's annual professional conference. Master clinicians, as well as newer faces in our profession, present on a wide variety of psychoanalytic subjects. Many years we also have an afternoon plenary session, in which all attendees meet together to share an experience. The conference also serves as the organization's annual meeting. The northwest psychoanalytic community enjoys an abundance of experience, training and expertise representing much of the psychoanalytic landscape. It is the aim of the forum to share this wealth with our members and the community at large. Study groups: peer learning experience organized and led by facilitators with expectation that the group will learn material together.
the alliance community psychotherapy clinic mission is to provide training in analytically-informed psychotherapy to licensed psychoyherapists and to provide low fee psychotherapy to patients who can make use of psychoanalytic psychotherapy but could not otherwise afford such services. This is a "clinic without walls. " all service providers work out of their own private practice locations. Acpc provides the matching between patients and therapists and between therapist and consultant. Acpc therapists commit to a minimum of two years of pro bono service with the patient referred by acpc and acpc commits to providing weekly consultation with a senior psychotherapist at no charge during these two years.
