Causes: Health, Pediatrics Research
Mission: To empower pediatricians and our partners to foster the physical, social, and emotional well-being of infants, children, adolescents and young adults.
Programs: Fostering health nc continued to attach children in foster care to appropriate trauma-informed care provided through medical homes. Accomplishments include increased rates of adolescent immunizations, increased rates of screening for behavioral and development issues for children under age 6, increased dental visits, and increased rates of well-child visits for many age groups. Activities include convening state level advisory group, providing technical assistance to communities, coordinating activities as needed and providing support to more than 100 practices caring for children in the foster care system.
ncpeds held a number of educational events, including open forums in january and april, an annual meeting in august, practice manager retreats in march and august, and career days for residents in september and october. Through these events, ncpeds provided 17 cmes, including 2. 25 cmes and 1moc-2 credit designed to meet new nc medical board requirements on opioids, 3 hours of moc-2, and 10 ce for practice managers. We also led an hpv qi grant with 25 moc-4 credit for participants. We educated about 600 members during 2017. About 550 of those members received education credits.
for more than twelve years, the society served as the fiscal agent for the nc alliance for health. In 2017, nc alliance for health applied for their own 501(c)(3) status and in january 2017, the society transferred all remaining ncah funds to ncah for their sole control.
