New Mexico Community Foundation

Programs: New mexico community foundation (nmcf) is a statewide grant-making and programmatic community foundation established in 1983. We support community projects and underserved communities by pooling resources to support new mexico's people, strengthen the state's nonprofits, and grow philanthropy and endowments, especially in rural parts of the state. We serve both donors and beneficiaries - connecting philanthropists (large and small! ) to the needs and aspirations of cities, towns, pueblos and villages across all of new mexico. We pull together people, ideas, and resources; we serve as a champion of rural communities and help build the strengths of nonprofit leaders and organizations. For thirty years, nmcf has served all thirty-three counties in new mexico by identifying community needs, designing and leading broad-based initiatives to meet those needs, and supporting local and regional nonprofits whose missions complement ours. By partnering with donors, we help them achieve their charitable goals - whether that means starting a fund, creating an endowment, leaving a legacy, or just making a gift.

nmcf manages endowed and non-permanent donor advised, non-profit agency, scholarship, designated, community advised and field of interest funds, which address a wide range of issues: education; arts and culture; rural development; native philanthropy and entrepreneurship; women, children and families; environment and animal protection; community leadership; civic engagement; and health and wellness. We now manage nearly $25 million in various funds and assets, but we are most gratified by the impact we have making grants of a much larger foundation: $7. 5 million in the last two years and over $60 million overall. In 2012 alone, nmcf made grants of almost $3 million from donor advised, designated, community advised, field of interest and scholarship funds.
