the following programs/services are made available to cancer patients and families free of charge. I. Ask an oncologist/drop in session: personal and case-specific discussions conducted by experienced oncologists to provide the patients with immediate and appropriate answers to health related questions and concerns. Ii. Community education: medical professionals and experienced volunteers work together to conduct cancer and cancer prevention education presentation to community with current and accurate information. Iii. Help line: office hotline made available to general public. Patient, family member and friend can call in to seek for cancer related information, request for the free services provided by the foundation or register for the current event. Office volunteer compile the cancer information and normally will mail a package to patient within 24 hours. All calls are answered by trained hotline volunteers. Confidential patient information took down by volunteer will pass on to various volunteer group to coordinate the requested services. Iv. Home visit: experienced volunteers visit cancer patient at the comfort of his/her home to provide emotional support and to identify their needs and report back to the office. V. Philanthropy: organizing fundraising events and philanthropic activities to support nhcccf's mission. Vi. Respite care: respite care is made available to terminally ill cancer patients where experienced respite care volunteers visit the patient and caregivers in order to provide support to family memebers. Vii. Social resources: integrate works with professional social workers and provide the use of other avaialble organization resources to patients such as , financial assistance, insurance, home care. . . Etc. Viii. Support group: the support group is designed for newly diagnosed cancer patients, patients undergoing treatment, and cancer survivors. It is an occasion to get together and share experiences while drawing strength from each other. As of 3/31/2016, the foundation has joy club to support breast cancer patients, east bay support group, man's club and oakland support group. Ix. Survivorship: activities such as dancing, yoga, calligraphy, cooking/baking, art crafting, hand made soap and other classes for cancer patient to take their mind off the frustration and stress. X. Transportaion services: this service provides patients with a viable way to reach their health care provider. The services are provided by volunteer drivers. Xi. Volunteer training: provide periodic training opportunities to volunteers who have the passion and commitment to serve cancer patients and their families.
