Mission: New albany symphony orchestra, inc. (naso) is a community orchestra bringing professional, adult, amateur, and student musicians together for a concert series at the mccoy community center for the arts in new albany, ohio. Naso also provides educational outreach for students.
Programs: Naso's primary service area is the performance of orchestral works in a community setting. To accomplish this purpose, naso performed 6 concerts for its 2015-2016 season.
naso's secondary program service area is education. To accomplish this purpose, naso includes advanced students in the orchestra and provides professional musicians as mentors. Naso presented a family concert, peter and the wolf, on february 7, 2016. Peter and the wolf was a multi-sensory concert featuring choreography by columbus dance theatre, narration by local weatherman jym ganahl, and performances by winners of our student concerto competition. On february 6, 2016 naso presented a sensory-friendly version of the concert in collaboration with vsa ohio, helping hands center, the autism treatment center of nationwide children's hospital and the autism society of central ohio.
