community development: through its wholly owned revolving loan fund, neighborhood concepts, inc. Made $458,936 in loans to small businesses and enterpreneurs in north alabama for start-up capital, equipment, and working capital. Borrowers demographics include 7 woman-owned business, 3 minorities, and 2 veteran. Lending activities are expected to create and/or retain jobs and locate businesses in underserved communities.

asset management: neighborhood concepts, inc. Serves as general partner or limited partner in 19 partnerships which collectively own 1,165 units of affordable multifamily housing in alabama, georgia, and south carolina. Expenses incurred in 2017 are associated with the oversight of these properties including monitoring the condition of the physical asset, compliance with federal funding regulations and oversight of the financial health of the properties. Asset management includes the delivery of various resident activities to foster greater self-sufficiency.

awareness: neighborhood concepts, inc. Serves as an advocate for affordable housing throughout the community. Nci speaks with various community groups, works with the local newspaper to neutralize citizen opposition to affordable housing, and conducts other activities designed to foster a better understanding of the housing needs of low-to-moderate income families. Staff also participates in congressional advocacy days sponsored by organizations in which nci is a member.
