Mission: Building communities of hope, justice and compassion. We at neighbor to neighbor ministries are committed in our mission to providing holistic and comprehensive high quality resources for adults, youth, children and their families. We are grassroots in our practice and are committed first and foremost to these grassroots relationships. We believe that through these committed, caring relationships mixed with high quality structured resources, youth and their family members will not only move forward but will also be the catalyst and example to lead the way for positive long lasting change that will break the cycle of poverty in our urban communities and ultimately provide productive leaders for the future of our nation.
Programs: The language arts program had 35 students. Each student was paired with two adult mentors (65 total). Each student attended two one-hour sessions each week. On average, our kids grew 1. 3 grade levels and mastered 25 specific common core objectives in one academic year. An additional 20 students were served in a homework lab. In addition, over 85% of all students enrolled in the after school program (language arts, math and homework lab) participated in 2-4 weekly enrichment classes where they gained skills in areas such as the arts, stem, entrepreneurship, and physical education.
the math program had 34 students with 60 mentors. On average, the students grew 1. 4 grade levels in the year and gained 27 objectives.
in 2017, the neighbor to neighbor ged program served over 58 students all ranging from 6th to 12th grade academic levels. Greater than 91% of these students successfully passed one or more of the official ged tests. The neighbor to neighbor 5e program continued to identify and establish next steps as it relates to other entrepreneurship business ideas identified by the neighbor to neighbor students within the s. E. Raleigh community. In conjunction with a catering business, neighbor cater, 1-day employment opportunities were extended to over 135 neighbor to neighbor students. Neighbor to neighbor remains committed to assisting and supporting students in search of employment opportunities.
