Mission: The national symphony orchestra association (nsoa) operated the orchestra of the u. S. Capital, the national symphony orchestra (nso), from its incorporation in 1931, until its affiliation with the john f. Kennedy center for the performing arts (kennedy center) in 1986. After transferring its assets, liabilities and employees to the kennedy center upon affiliation, the nsoa has continued to fundraise on behalf of the nso and to advise the kennedy center on the artist operations of the nso.
