Mission: To support national public health system initiatives and strengthen public health institutes to promote multi-sector activities resulting in measurable improvements of public health structures, systems, and outcomes through grants and contracts.
Programs: Ostlts partnerships - cba of the public system- the purpose of this program is for national, nonprofit organizations to strengthen and improve governmental and non-governmental components of the public health system through the provision of capacity building assistance that optimizes the quality and performance of public health systems management and administration, public health workforce, public health data and information systems, public health practice and services, public health partnerships, and public health resources. This program is specifically designed to position governmental public health departments, workforce segments across governmental public health departments, and nongovernmental public health components to fulfill the mission of population health protection and promotion in the united states and its tribal nations and territories. During this fiscal year, nnphi successfully implemented over 30 projects covering a wide range of topic areas including chronic disease prevention, health systems transformation, enivronmental health, and public health infrastructure improvement,among others.
implementing and expanding the county health rankings & roadmaps to improve health outcomes in communities- nnphi is partnering with the university of wisconsin population health institute to expand the work of the county health rankings & roadmaps (chr&r), a robert wood johnson foundation program. Chr&r helps communities identify and implement solutions that make it easier for people to be healthy in their schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods. Ranking the health of nearly every county in the nation, the county health rankings illustrate what we know when it comes to what is making people sick or healthy. The roadmaps show what we can do to create healthier places to live, learn, work, and play. Chr&r is partnering with the national network of public health institutes to recruit and hire coaches to expand the work of the roadmaps to health action center across the nation.
national coordinating health training center- the national coordinating center for public health training is building a sustainable and coordinated network of 10 regional public health training centers (rphtcs) nationwide working together to co-create, modernize, standardize, and distribute evenly to all communities and tribes a best-in-class curriculum to advance the nation's public health workforce.
