Heart N Hands

Essence and her team have made such an impact on the community, and not just in New Orleans. Their passion translates into their efforts to combat heart disease and promote heart health in these young ladies that they focus on. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Heart N Hands on a couple of different projects. They are changing lives for the better with this organization!

I joined Heart N Hands as a volunteer a year ago at the 2021 "Running for the Heart 5K" and absolutely adored this foundation and concept. Heart N Hands' overall mission to prevent and defeat heart disease in women is so vital to this community and the world at large, and I can't wait to get involved in future programs Heart N Hands has to offer to young women and girls!!

Heart N Hands is a trail blazing local nonprofit focused on promoting heart health to young girls and teens. They provide health education, exercise activities, and opportunities for volunteerism throughout the year. HNH will always have a place in my heart!

Heart N Hands targets to educate, empower and raise awareness in females aged 10-18 years about preventative heart health. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and it is only with prevention, education, and guidance that this can be changed in the future. Organized activities such as 5K run, yoga, BootCamp classes, etc. encourage girls to participate with their families in physical fitness while educational sessions at schools help them learn how to identify risk factors, signs of heart disease, and stroke. For me, being a part of Heart N Hands is not only a fulfilling way to give back to society but also a way to invest in the future of our country's health.

I just started working with Heart N Hands this year and feel a great sense of reward every time I prepare for an event or attend an event. This organization has made me focus more on my overall heart health and the health of my family. So good to see all the smiling faces of the girls in our sessions and how excited they are to learn about how to love their hearts through our interactive sessions. Keep up the GREAT work!!!

WOW!!! Love Heart N Hands...I am an active volunteer and love going to all their fitness sessions and their annual Running for the Heart 5K in the fall. Can't wait for the next series of events in New Orleans. And I heard they are expanding to other cities as well. Congrats!

This organization has motivated and encouraged me to get healthy and focus on my heart health. I have attended their recent Running for the Heart 5K and will continue to include exercise in my daily and weekly schedule. Excellent Organization!!! I have been a junior board member since the organization was founded by Essence Banks - I have been working with the programming content and sharing ideas about what young girls my age would like to do and learn. I am so excited about continuing to work with Heart N Hands and share with my new college network.

I have been involved with organization since it started in 2014 and enjoy volunteering and working with girls in the community to raise awareness about heart health. The programming is exceptional.

Heart n Hands is an incredible organization!! We are continuing to work with the Girl Scouts and Girls on the Run to educate them on heart health, fitness and more!! We have expanded as well to Nashville! We have regular fitness programs with Nina Balan at the Lafitte Greenway and continuing their fight against heart disease in girls and women! We are doing some great things in the city of New Orleans!!

I love that Heart N Hands have outdoor work outs for people to do! It keeps you fit while also helping your heart :)

Heart N Hands is an organization that has truly helped impact the community of New Orleans. I've attended many fundraising events and always leave feeling inspired to enhance my overall health and help spread awareness for heart health. I love volunteering for Heart N Hands! I have provided blood pressure checks and heart healthy tips at several of their events and always leave feeling a big sense of accomplishment. The work they do is like none other - working to educate our young girls to prevent the #1 killer of women - heart disease. I am looking forward to the next event and another chance to educate more women and girls in the community. Follow them on social media to see all the great things they are doing. So proud to be a part of the organization and to see them grow. Even through COVID-19 they still managed to get our and work in the community and provide free virtual fitness sessions...WOW! I have been a part of Heart N Hands and volunteering since its inception and like the work they do in NOLA. I can see how so many have benefitted from the work they do. I have also learned so much about heart health since I have been a part. Keep up the great work.

Since I joined the Heart N Hands team, I became more aware of my own health and wellbeing. The events and accountability group behind the HNH team has been everything I needed mostly during the pandemic times when I felt like giving up on my fitness. Thanks to the 5K virtual race and other events organized in the last 7 months, I have finally accomplished my goal of running/jogging for 3.1 miles 3 times a week. I must say that without HNH, this would have not happened!

So happy to be a part of this great organization for the past 6 years. We have done so much in the community and excited about our recent expansion to Nashville, TN this year. This will be a good opportunity for the organization to expand services and reach more girls and women to increase information about heart health and heart disease prevention - our core mission. Looking forward to seeing the expansion to the next city/state!!!! So much more growth for Heart N Hands!

I have heard so many great things about Heart N Hands and their impact in the New Orleans community. I love to see all the programs catered to girls and their families that encourage healthy lifestyles. I especially appreciated the work they did right after COVID-19 when they offered free virtual fitness sessions to anyone that wanted to get active and focus on their heart health.
