Programs: Membership programs - conferences: both educational and inspiring, our national conferences are opportunities for member organizations to interact, collaborate and share ideas on the latest trends in musical theatre. The 2017 fall conference was in new york city on october 17 & 18, 2017 and was entitled "from stage to [everyone on the same] page. " the conference included panels on creating a culture of inclusion, artistic community engagement, and navigating the political climate's influence on theatre programming. The 2018 spring conference was held april 4-6, 2018 and was hosted by pittsburgh clo. The conference brought together executive and marketing leadership to discuss how to keep patrons invested in all of an organization's work, as well as breaking down departmental silos within an organization. Member feedback on our conferences continues to be extremely positive. Webinars: namt continues to offer a knowledge exchange webinar series about best practices in the industry, which builds on discussions from our conferences and provides a forum for staff at all levels of our member organizations to share resources and exchange information. All namt webinars are archived on our website for continued member access. Namt news & notes and new works news: namt news & notes provides topical industry information to all members and festival alumni writers, and new works news highlights future readings and productions around the country. Each is sent monthly via email. Website: completely re-designed in fy 15, namt's website, www. Namt. Org, is our primary communication tool that includes links to members sites, festival information, updates on namt programs and the namt blog. The "members only" section offers searchable information about theatres, productions and festival writers, as well as members-only discounts. The website also includes our set & costume registry, through which members can earn revenue by renting sets, costumes, props and orchestrations and which is among the most heavily trafficked areas of the website. This fiscal year, namt launched the theatre experience and collaboration hub (the tech), an online resource center offering opportunities for members to connect with and learn from their peers without leaving their desks, accessible via the namt website. The tech houses the new "nuts & bolts guide to producing new musicals," an in-depth best practices sharing tool for members interested in producing new works. Research services: namt conducts industry surveys on subjects such as salaries, benefits and royalties, and shares the findings with our members.
new works programs - festival of new musicals: our most highly attended event, our annual festival showcases 45-minute presentations of eight new musicals over two days for 600+ industry attendees. The 29th annual festival of new musicals was held october 19 & 20, 2017 at new world stages in new york city. Namt assumes the costs of producing and marketing the festival, handles all administration and logistics and takes no royalty stake in future productions. Since 1989, the festival has introduced 252 new musicals and 478 writers to the industry, many of whom have found great subsequent success. Namt is constantly working to allow more opportunities for writers to present their work to the industry. The midday cabaret is a lunchtime session on both days of the festival for select emerging writers to present a sample of their work. The 46th minute is a special concert held during the festival. This year, the concert showcased songs from past festival shows. National fund for new musicals: over the past year, the national fund has awarded 17 grants totaling $50,000 to namt member not-for-profit theatres. Since its inception in 2008, the national fund has awarded 135 grants totaling $481,000 to support a wide variety of new work at every stage of development, from writer residencies to full productions, selected each year by a panel of experienced musical theatre professionals. Innovation & exploration grant: namts innovation & exploration grant is designed to help namt member theatres pilot new ideas in various administrative and production areas to advance their missions. This past year, the program's first, 13 i&e grants were awarded totaling $11,500 to member not-for-profit theatres.
