Mission: The organization accomplishes its mission through two areas of focus multicultural music instruction and professional presentation in a diversity of music genres for multicultural music representation in music training programs and the symphonic repertoire.
Programs: Under contract with the new york city department of education. The organizations symphonic youth program provides direct multicultural music introdution to public school students and training workshops for teachers and school personnel.
as a presenter, the organizations orchestra program through its annual concert series, the multicultural music encounters, offers performances of traditional and classic works in western and non-western music genres and comissions new works influenced by a variety of cultural traditions.
under each program area, teaching artists, composers, scholars and socio-cultural activities work with students and teachers to offer sequential music instruction, teacher training workshops, lecture/demonstrations, community dialogues, and multicultural performances that incorporate social aspects and major historical events into an informative musical structure. This incorporation distinguishes the organization as an unique groundbreaking music entity.
