Causes: Birth Defects & Genetic Diseases Research, Health
Mission: The mission of the pojectspark foundation is to make a difference in the lives of people living with parkinson's, their relatives, and caregivers. The foundation is dedicated to the eradication of parkinson's disease in our lifetime, and the amelioration of the effects of the disease for all parkinson's stakeholders in the short term. We seek to compliment the efforts of other institutions focused on the disease by finding those points of leverage where a "spark" will help ignite the actions needed to unlock a cure. Ultimately,projectspark will contribute to a cure. We are focused on providing hope for tomorrow by leveraging existing projects, increasing the rate of information dissemination, facilitating participation in clinical trials to help move promising therapies to parkinson's patients, and creating a more patient-responsive regulatory climate in the united states.
Programs: The primary fundraiser conducted by project spark foundation is the play for parkinsons lacrosse series. In 2013 four division 1 men's lacrosse teams and the u. S. Mens's national team participated including loyola, georgetown, towson, and richmond and six divison i women's teams participated including duke, maryland, penn state, towson,jmu,and georgetown. Over 4,500 individuals attended the two day event.
