My name is James C. Baker II, former Parks and Recreation Commissioner for the City of Moreno Valley. I had the pleasure of visiting the Vanguard Art Gallery in the Stoneridge Shopping Plaza, located n Moreno Valley. This is a very nice Gallery consisting of many types of pieces from different times and eras.. The staff was knowledgeable and they are well received and very active in the community. I was so inspired by visiting them, i actually build my Imperial Rome Float for the Independence Parade and had them take part and ride on the float. As a former 10 year Parks Commissioner, I've watch this Gallery grow and inspire many residents and college students, aspire to do great things in the field of Art. Hats off to the Vanguard Art Gallery. We are so glad they are here.

Non-profits that encourage society to embrace and strengthen the Arts are to be applauded. Please help the Moreno Valley Cultural Arts Foundation to reach more people, and to go on supporting artists.

I used to volunteer at the Vanguard Art Gallery. I believe it is an asset to the city. It’s a great place to come together for a cup of coffee and to appreciate the world of art. It offers so much to the community with its many events. Everyone needs to check it out and get involved!

So nice to see something being done for the local community. The Arts are so important!!! The fact that they bring music and visual arts together in one location is great! Wish more people knew about it and would get involved.

MVCAF leader Rick Archer reaches out to many groups, companies, individuals and government organizations in the immediate area in the region to work with them to provide useful and desirable cultural activities - or the option of using the Vanguard Gallery as the space to hold their own arts activities. The organization has held classes in and out of the gallery for children and adults, organized 'BashFest' to promote other-abled artists, and has become the first (and at the time of writing only) LGBTQ safe-space in Moreno Valley. Writing and poetry groups meet there too, plus likely quite a few other things that I don't know about!

MVCAF is a great organization that helps to promote the arts and culture in Moreno Valley, CA. Through the Vanguard Art Gallery, they host monthly art walk events, have space for art classes and music classes that benefit local students and the public. They proudly support veterans (including hosting a special veterans art show), and are the first Safe Space in Moreno Valley for the LGTB+ community. Everyone who volunteers is very friendly, and does their best to help.

The Moreno Valley Cultural Arts Foundation is a grass roots nonprofit served by dedicated volunteers with no payroll. We are a recent recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant - for an event redefining disabilities, a Community Foundation Grant creating awareness of local homeless families as well as contracts with the Moreno Valley Unified School District and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Riverside/Redlands. MVCAF is an official City Group and has a contract with the City of Moreno Valley. We are currently participating in an Annenberg Foundation Alchemy Leadership program and have established an impressive Advisory Committee along with working on major revisions to our bylaws. We established in 2012 and successfully operate the City's only art gallery where we showcase a wide variety of artists of all genres (visual, performing, literary). We have a number of arts programs, most of them free to the public. MVCAF is very proud of its commitment as an advocate and promoter of the arts as well as our numerous public service endeavors. We are growing and improving rapidly. We are proud of our accomplishments in spite of minimal funds and no paid staff. This is all a matter of public record that we welcome any and all inquiries.

Note: As to a previous post, the person responsible has recently been successfully sued by Debra Craig of Moreno Valley Matters for a similar erroneous attack. MVCAF has been thoroughly vetted by the City, the School District and the Federal Government in order to have received the contracts and grants in the past and that are currently on-going.

This organization is not even incorporated in the State of California, and thus not qualified for the status of a non-profit 501 c3 as they claim.
