Causes: Health
Mission: To promote and serve the mobile healthcare sector through advocacy of the benefits of delivering health care using mobile platforms, education, and research in order to increase access to care for all.
Programs: Annual forum:mhca's 2017 national conference (mhca forum) was held at the phoenix convention center in phoenix, arizona. Attendees participated in workshops, courses, and mentoring sessions presented by over 50 speakers. The conference theme this year was "quality". Attendees were exposed to sessions centered on improvements to increase access and care for vulnerable populations. Featured presentations focused on the nuka system of care from alaska, evaluation and presentation of program outcomes, and providing care in an unstable market with unknown changes to the aca. Workshops focused on motivational interviewing, harm reduction, quality improvement, vehicle maintenance, (see schedule o)integrated care teams, and understanding and affirming lgbtq indentities. Sixteen health specialty vehicles were on display to tour and learn more about the latest technology in building a mobile health clinic. Mhca also began planning the 2018 forum to be held september 14-17 in cleveland, ohio.
membership:mhca currently has more than 285 member organizations. Mhca provides members with education and networking opportunities such as special interest group discussions, news forums and a quartery electronic newsletter. Mhca offers a quarterly live webinar series and makes the recordings available for member viewing. Members also receive access to other management resources, program development and operation assistance tools.
regional coalitions:over 350 members attended 17 different meetings by 12 regional coalitions throughout the country to discuss best practices, innovations in the mobile health care sector and to network with other mobile providers. The regional coalitions are independent, regional grassroots communities of mobile healthcare providers and allied organizations.
advocacy - during 2017, mhca continued to work with federal representatives to support legislation relative to mobile healthcare. Mhca maintains relations and discussions with congressional representatives to explore opportunities for the inclusion of support for mobile healthcare in pending legislation. Mhca also maintains ongoing relationships with numerous representatives from the usdhhs.
