Mission: The Missouri Humanities Council enables families and communities to broaden their appreciation of history, literature and ideas that shape our democracy. The Missouri Humanities Council (MHC) is a statewide, non-profit organization dedicated to the deep appreciation and engagement within the humanities collaborating with Missouri museums, libraries, cultural organizations, educators and families. Our programs support these institutions as they create compelling activities for the public, inspire teachers, and make family reading and story sharing a universal benefit in Missouri.
MHC was founded in 1971 as an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. It serves as a catalyst for cultural organizations, helping them to connect with people and communities in dynamic ways that spark the deep excitement for story and learning that builds character, intellect, and understanding.
