My son and I are vey grateful to have learned about the Midtown Educational Foundation. Everyone who works at Midtown takes special pride in what they do for the students and for the families which they serve. What my child learns at home from me and my family is being reinforced at Midtown through love and positive guidance from the teachers. As a parent, I have made many new friends at the parent classes which Midtown offers. As my son learns from his teachers and classmates, I also learn during this same time, with my teacher and fellow parents who also attend the meetings. Midtown Education Foundation is a very generous and loving place to be. Thank you so much for everything that you do, Midtown, in the honor of the students and families. My son and I run to Midtown twice a week, excited by the new things that are being learned !

As a volunteer, an employee, and a donor for the organization, I have been able to see the positive impact of MEF's programs, Midtown and Metro, has had on so many young people in Chicago. I began as a volunteer mentor for the Metro Achievement Center for girls while still in college. Every week, I would spend time talking with some of the girls in the program and helping them set goals. These goals were focused on improving in school, developing a good relationship with their family, and building character by practicing virtues. I was able to see the girls struggle to accomplish their goals, desire to make a difference, and ultimately grow in both knowledge and character. After college, I took a position working full-time for the organization. The girls that I first began mentoring had moved on to high school and eventually would go on to attend college. Seeing these girls begin to prepare and ultimately succeed in graduating high school and attending college was wonderful. The program was able to give these students the foundation to succeed. The success rate is obvious not only from the statistics, but also from the stories the parents will tell of how it helped their daughter or son. Midtown Educational Foundation is truly making difference in the lives of Chicago’s youth.
