Mission: The mission of mid city redevelopment alliance is to promote and develop the growth and renewal of the mid city region of baton rouge by attracting new and retainting current residents and businesses.
Programs: The home ownership center provides various counseling and education classes for low to moderate income homebuyers. Daily pre-purchase and foreclosure prevention counseling appointments and monthly first time homebuyer workshops available free of charge.
community investment is mcra's efforts to attract and retain a solid commercial climate where businesses can thrive. We work with developers and investors considering the mid city area. We consult on the history of the neighborhoods, incentives for reinvestment, and obstacles that could impact development. We also advocate for public investment to support the planned revitalization of the area.
the organization provides facade improvement grants to small businesses and neighborhood improvement grants to low and moderate income homeowners. Both grants focus on the overall improvement of quality of life and property values along with obtaining an attraction to the mid city for a viable future.
mcra coordinates an annual all-volunteer community improvement program to help disabled, elderly, and needs-based households with minor repairs, minor rehab, and landscaping to inspire community pride. Fixup! Mid city has been active since 1993. Mcra also provides affordable housing through the direct development of units or partnering on the production of units.
