For my LSU senior marketing class, I partnered with Manners of the Heart writing press releases, planning events and helping to manage their social media accounts. Jill and her team could not have been more helpful and encouraging about our ideas. I cannot begin to say enough good things about them. They truly opened their hearts to our team of seniors.
Their work within the Baton Rouge community and beyond inspires me to seek out a job within the world of nonprofits.

Manners of the Heart helps our students perform better academically, maintain healthy relationships, and develop problem solving skills. It assists in creating a overall positive school culture.
As a TV morning show anchor in Baton Rouge, I deal with different nonprofits on a daily basis. Manners of the Heart quickly became one of our favorites because of its incredible impact on our community and Jill Rigby Garner's sincere and fun way of educating our viewers. We love her so much that we offered her monthly segments on our show! She always brings timely lessons of respect, love, and kindness - along with a family-friendly craft that reinforces her message. The Manners of the Heart curriculum is now taught to thousands of elementary school students in Baton Rouge, ensuring that our next generation is exposed to these important life concepts. I think the program should be in schools nationwide. Many in our society seem to have forgotten their manners or never learned them in the first place. Manners of the Heart is doing amazing work to change that!
I am a part time employee and volunteer with Manners of the Heart. I am in the schools that are served by this organization and see what a difference it makes in the lives of the students and teachers.
This non-profit has an exceptional program that EVERY elementary school should have! They have thought of every way to ensure it is easy to use for teachers and administrators. Their availability to assist as needed is incredible.
In a world where respect seems to be missing in almost every area of life, it can be incredibly difficult to figure out how to reach our student's hearts and minds to show them a different way. The Manners of the Heart curriculum is like a breath of fresh air in the world of education. Full of delightful characters and a setting that students can imagine and relate to, activities and discussions to help our students practice the skills they are learning about, and wisdom for the teacher's heart as well as the students' hearts. I am thrilled to be introducing my students to the wonderful world of Merryville as we work to educate their hearts and minds!

Bethel Lower Elementary recently updated our curriculum to the 2nd edition and has began our six year of teaching Manners of the Heart. Before Manners of the Heart, I had 159 discipline referrals in 2013-2014. After 5 years of implementation, I only had 24 discipline referrals last year. That's an 85% reduction! My staff and I are believers that proper implementation of this curriculum changes lives and teaches our students to choose respect!

We are in the third year of our implementation of Manners of the Heart. This respect-based heart education has improved the environment of my school. Students understand the character traits taught through the curriculum and can connect to characters of Merryville. My staff is fully invested in teaching the curriculum to their students, because they understand the importance of teaching respect at an early age. We love our monthly Wednesday with Wilbur assemblies, recognizing our monthly Masters of Manners, having fun at our quarterly Principal's Manners Events, and participating in the Project: To My Friend!
Manner's of the Heart is new to our school but we are loving it. The curriculum is so user friendly and meeting needs our children have. The staff at Manner's of the Heart are great to work with. They are so caring and helpful.
Manners of the Heart is a program that supports character education. We have only been using it for about 3 weeks and the kids enjoy the program.
Heart by heart, Manners of the Heart is restoring respect and civility, kindness and love, to a disrespectful world that seems to have lost its way.
Manners of the Heart is an evidence-based character education program covering a vast spectrum of heart attributes, designed to strengthen morals, improve social and emotional learning skills and increase respectfulness in Pre-K through 5th grade children. Manners of the Heart believes that heart education must be the foundation for education. Their mission is to restore respect and civility in our society by equipping schools, encouraging families and engaging communities in respect-based heart education. Defining manners as an attitude of the heart that is self-giving and not self-serving, Manners of the Heart teaches children to respect others, and in the process, they gain respect for themselves.
Manners of the Heart supports my quest for personal growth by reminding me of the many ways in which I can help other individuals simply by being respectful of their humanity. In addition, MOH reminds me of the little ways that I can have a impact to the community - returning grocery carts, picking up trash, and generally being a steward of my surroundings in order to leave a place better than I found it.
Each day, I look forward to their inspirational thoughts and add them to my personal goals for the day. I truly believe that their mission to encourage us all to show respect to not only our fellow human beings but also the planet on which we and all others live, is the key to making not only our personal space but our larger environment nicer, healthier, and generally a better place to be.
Thank you Manners of the Heart for all that you do.
In this day and time, many parents neglect teaching their children manners and respect for others. This also reflects on a child's self-respect. Manners of the Heart helps to develop manners, respect, and self-improvement in actions towards others and themselves. I feel they fill a void which helps children motivate toward goodness in their life.
As a pastor, parent and former substitute teacher I can clearly see where MANNERS OF THE HEART is a necessary organization. Jill and her staff have such a grace with working with young people. This summer our ministry Abounding Love Ministries had the opprtunity to host Jill and Manners of The Heart during our S.T.A.R.S. Students That Are Reaching Success summer camp. She came to the camp on three different occasions and I must say with an attendance of over 100 children ages 5-15, the children were engaged each time!! The message of Transforming homes, school and communities has been well received!! I am honored to be a part of such a life changing organization!
With so many children being raised by single parents there is a great need for classes that manners of the heart is offering. While presenting the classes to ages 5 thru 13 this summer it was so wonderful to see the children being so interested in learning about respect to others and it was so evident that a program like this needs to broaden to as many young people as possible. It can truly make a difference it the lives of the younger generation for the rest of their lives
Manners of the Heart is reaching out to teach respect and consideration to families, schools, and communities. The results have been fantastic. People associated with the programs are impressed with the message and the results.
Manners of the Heart teaches children the value of kindness and respect. The data that is now proving without a doubt that instilling those virtues directly results in improved scholastic results. While that is extremely important, what is more important is that the children are learning vital spiritual principals.
What a difference a couple of years make.
Since 2014, Manners of the Heart has grown to be providing their course curriculum in a full 1/3 of East Baton Rouge Parish elementary schools. These schools are all shows great improvement in their school grade and the children seem to be responding to the message of respect with excitement and enthusiasm. After a couple of rough months in 2016, the area surrounding Baton Rouge has rallied to show true love and Respect for each other. The #BRRespect campaign started by Manners of the Heart has spread to every corner of the city and people are starting to respect each other and themselves. I am so proud to be a part of this organization.

I believe that one person can change the world, if only by changing another person's heart. Jill and her staff have changed many hearts over the last 15 years, and I know the world is a better place for their efforts. I have seen Jill meet children from every walk of life and I have seen the effect her program has on their education and their lives. I hope and pray that some of these children will rise up to be a world leaders.
Raising children in today world of multi-media is very challenging. Seeing and hearing unfiltered behaviors that often show disrespect to others and the lack of self-respect. Manners of the Heart offers parents the help they need to overcome the negative messages their children see and hear. It also has proven to be effective. I wish every school offered this valuable curriculum to help develop our next generation of leaders.
I really notice when young elementary aged kids use their good manners or do kind things in public, such as holding a door open as I am following behind them. I usually try to engage them in a brief conversation, and thank them for doing the good deed. I may ask them what school they attend or have they ever heard of Manners of the Heart. Far and away, the answer is that they have experienced Manners of the Heart training. The best part is they say it with such enthusiasm.
I was first introduced to Manners of the Heart in 2015 and fell in love with their mission immediately. As a former teacher and current volunteer, I cannot imagine a better place to spend my time than supporting this great organization in restoring respect to our schools, businesses and communities. Hearing the stories about how this has changed peoples' lives warms my heart. I had a manager at one of the businesses we serve say that it has not only made a difference in his company but in his personal life as well. You can't get any better than that.
Manners of the Heart is truly a transforming organization. Jill teaches from the heart and believes and lives a life of Manners. She is an inspiration to parents everywhere. She has touched my life and the lives of many people that I know.
We were truly blessed to have Jill Garner of Manners of the Heart speak at our annual women's event. She is a wonderful author and speaker with a compelling life story to share. Her heart for service and passion for teaching children is an inspiration. Our women loved hearing her speak and were captivated by her words. The vision of the Manners of the Heart organization is beautiful as well in that it encourages children to live kind, giving lives of purpose and integrity. I highly recommend Jill Garner and Manners of the Heart!
You will not find a more committed and passionate individual than Jill when it comes to helping children grow with respect to character, moral and respectfulness. I have been blessed to be on the board and see Jill's tireless efforts to continuously improve and grow Manners so that it reaches children throughout the nation. This is a message that all children need to hear, and we hope to see Manners in every school in the country in the near future.
My wife and I attended a parent seminar of Jill's around 5 years ago. We were blown away by the sheer simplicity and powerful truth of what she presented. So much so that our two children soon became beneficiaries of her character-centric message. Fast forward to my daughter, who graduated from middle school from St. Aloysius School in Baton Rouge and received one of two Kiwanis "Courtesy" awards, which is given by a school staff vote for the male and female "most courteous, kind and respectful" graduating students. When I was invited to serve on the Manners board, I didn't hesitate, as I truly believe that what Manners offers, is what current and future generations need to regain from what was lost in this country following a worrisome string of "me" generations.
Having known Jill for years and as a Board Member for Manners of the Heart, I have been blessed by watching what faith and determination can do. Jill, staff and volunteers do in fact make a difference. We are seeing peoples’ hearts and minds change for the better. In today’s world it is imperative that programs such as this make it into our school systems. Contact Manners and see how you can help make a difference.
Manners truly fills a huge void that exists within a large portion of our youth. It teaches kids how to respect themselves, and by doing that, respect others. The world will be a better place if Manners can fulfill it's goal of touching every child in America!
There is not a more important organization in today's world than Manners of the Heart! Jill and her staff exhibit extraordinary and tireless energy and are singularly dedicated to changing the world one child's heart at a time. All schools should be implementing Manners' curriculum in order to witness the fascinating evolution of children exposed to the Manners' programs.
Thank you Family Resource Center for offering this workshop! The movement in my heart is all thanks to Jill Garner. How amazingly wonderful. Hope to give my children humble confidence and a window to their amazing future! Thank you! From a lost mom!
Manners of the Heart is a great organization that seeks to help children understand the true source of kindness and community. Mrs. Garner and her team are true professionals with a heart for children! They are a blessing to our kids and our organization.
As a donor I am thankful for the work and the mission of Manners of the Heart. Their school programs are bringing the results we would all hope to achieve. In the school year 2012-2013 the Manners programs were in 5 East Baton Rouge Parish schools. Of these schools, 4 achieved recognition of being Top Gains schools. In school year 2013-2014, under a different grading system, 2 schools with Manners of the Heart programs made the same great improvement. The children love the classes and respond to the teaching. The stories are their favorite part of the curriculum. I would like to see more schools use the Manners of the Heart programs.
Manners of the Heart is a great program that teaches kids to be kind and considerate to each other and to adults. It doesn't assume that kids will know these things already. Each lesson is a well though out "burst" of explicit instruction on how to help your heart grow in "kindness". I enjoy watching my students become transformed into purposefully caring individuals.
The Manners of the Heart staff educate our students on anti-bullying strategies that help them to deal with peer pressure. Their journal topics help students to reflect on the lessons and write about their personal feelings. With all of the challenges our young people face, Manners of the Heart is a much needed support system that our students really benefit from.
