education and outreach - working primarily through the ministries of the united methodist church, mfsa supports and augments peace and justice ministries at the local, conference, and national levels. As an independent organization, we call our church to expand its understanding of the radical call of the gospel to be the inclusive, justice-seeking, risk-taking body of christ.
general and jurisdictional conference - every 4 years the united methodist church holds its general and jurisdictional conference, a time for delegates to make decisions for the world-wide denomination and then to elect bishops to govern regions of the united states. Mfsa has a presence at both general and jurisdictional conferences to advocate and hold delegates accountable to progressive theological statements. In 2016, mfsa participated in the general conference which was held in portland, oregon from may 10 -20, 2016 and each of 5 jurisdictional conferences held regionally throughout the us in the month of july.
