Causes: Chambers of Commerce & Business Leagues
Mission: The purpose of the massachusetts association of practicing urologists (mapu) shall be to acquire, assemble, preserve and disseminate information about the practice of urology; to provide accurate and reliable information pertaining to the economics of the practice of urology; to stimulate and promote cooperation and exchange of professional information among urologists; to provide mutual advancement and the promotion of the economic interests of urologists; to promote and advance a mutual interest among practicing urologists and to cultivate social intercourse among them; to acquaint and inform the public as to the objectives of the association, and to stimulate public opinion and reaction to these ends by providing information that will foster, encourage and stimulate these purposes.
Programs: The organization hosts two educational programs annually for their membership. The fall program was held on november 5, 2014, at the massachusetts medical society headquarters, and featured shehzad basaria, md, medical director of men's health, aging & metabolism at brigham & women's hospital, and abraham morgentaler, md, director & founder of men's health boston, speaking on the topic of current thinking in testosterone replacement therapy". The spring program was held on april 30, 2015 at the embassy suites and included mapus annual business meeting. The guest speaker was jon a. Chilingerian, phd, professor of health management and organization behavior at insead, discussing the topic of can physician leaders really make a difference".
