This organization is effective at promoting public health policies. They are a great model for broad-based coalition building, grassroots engagement and strategic communications. At one time I volunteered here and was very impressed by how efficiently and effectively this small team was run and was inspired by their record of success.

This "Charity" uses much of its "income" lobbying State and Federal Legislators to impose "TAXES"
on products with which they disagree(i.e. tobacco, alcohol, etc) which ends up with more regressive
taxation imposed on those who enjoy these certain products, even in severe moderation.
They assume these "sin taxes" will go directly to "Healthcare for all" which it does not; money goes into the general public fund of the state; only consumers and retailers are hurt.
No person nor insitution should be allowed the category "Charity" when he or it imposes personal
dislikes or distastes on legal, public goods.
We will see more and more crimes associated with products which are highly taxed(i.e. mugging
for a pack of smokes or a cigar, burglaries, and personal and property damage to obtain these
items...These are already occurring at higher rates across the State of Maryland).
