Mission: Marshfield area united way's (mauw) mission is to increase the community's capacity to care for one another. Mauw solicits and distributes donations to community human service organizations who in turn provide needed services in our community.
Programs: Community impact - distribution of funding to human services programs that served 13,169 individuals in central wisconsin. Services are provided in three major areas:educationschool readiness objective:impact at least 6000 children in our service area through support of early childhood literacy, early childhood education, and other school readiness initiatives. School success objective:support programs that successfully obtain and sustain student academic success for at least 1000 students in the marshfield area united way service area. Parental support and skill enhancement objective: increase both the availability and level of parent participation in parental support and skill enhancement programs by 20%. Increase number of mentors, tutors and readers objective: increase by 20%, both the number of tutors, readers and mentors, as well as, the children and youth benefitting from the service provided. Health safe home and community objective: provide services and supports that keep a minimum of 500 individuals safe. Access to supportive health services objective: provide services and supports that maintain or increase health and well-being for at least 100 individuals. Incomeincome supports objective: provide services, goods and income supports that augment household budgets for at least 3000 individuals in the marshfield area united way service area. Affordable housing objective: provide transitional shelter with supportive services to at least 200 homeless individuals. Manageable expenses objective: establish a financial literacy program capable of providing quality budgeting and other financial literacy services to a minimum of 100 individuals its first year of operation.
volunteer center - connects individuals wishing to volunteer with social service programs seeking volunteers. Additionally the volunteer center conducts a backpack and school supply drive that distributed 675 backpacks filled with necessary supplies and recruited and lead 215 volunteers in raking for 32 senior and disabled homeowners during make a difference day.
211 - provides information and referrals 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to connect individuals with needed services and programs. 475 individuals were served by 211 in 2017.
reach out and read - provided 5,183 books to children during their well child check-ups to assist with school readiness. Nutrition on weekends - provides 420 identified children and youth living in food insecure households with food packs for the weekend, during school breaks and summer vacations.
