Mission: Lutheran Urban Mission Initiative, Inc. (LUMIN) grew out of the realization that churches are no longer able to economically support parish schools and that a deep need exists for the teaching of values and the building of community that such schools have traditionally done. LUMIN is developing an educational system of schools and other opportunities for community building within the central cities of the United States so that quality education and other opportunities for spiritual, character, and leadership development may be a constant reality for those living in poverty or other hindering situations often found in our central cities.
