Mission: Lsna is a community-based organization advancing diversity, leader development, and models for engagement as the catalyst for social justice.
Programs: Parent engagement institute (pei): is collaboration between lsna and southwest organizing project (swop), which provides programmatic training, mentoring, and best practices to partner organizations interested in developing their own parent mentor programs locally, nationally, and internationally.
education program - includes parent mentors who work daily in school classrooms supporting teachers and receiving leadership development from lsna; more intensively trained parent tutors reach the students most at-risk for academic failure; parents enrolled in a university partnership (grow your own teachers) studying to be bilingual teachers; curriculum partnerships with high school teachers; and internships for high school leaders.
youth development: lsna partners with high school staff to develop post-secondary and legal supports for undocumented dreamers, to provide students with meaningful and inspirational service learning opportunities, and to help establish a culture of consistent respect and accountability based on the values of restorative justice at school. Lsna staff serves high school youth through outreach programs, including home-visits for students who are not attending school regularly, service learning projects with high school seniors to meet graduation requirements, classroom-based service learning with freshmen students, post-secondary education for undocumented students including a college and career fair for immigrant youth, and peace circles and restorative justice practices at the school and in the community.
