Mission: Legacy Associates Foundation is an organization whose mission is to exemplify and retain scholastic leadership, community involvement, and economic empowerment on a local, national and global front. Our current members consist of twenty African-American men in their 20's that grew up together as great friends and partners. Through our life experiences, we have developed a special relationship that has lasted, in some instances, since second grade, through our college years and into the present. The undergraduate universities we attended include: Morehouse College, Howard University, University of Chicago-Loyola, Case-Western Reserve University, Chicago-Kent Law School, Florida A & M University, Harvard University, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Western Michigan University, Wayne State University and Grand Valley State. As we reached the latter phases of our undergraduate years and began to embark upon graduate school and professional careers, we began to realize the importance of maintaining contact with one another and the power of building a strong professional network. Our areas of study ranged from medicine to business economics to computer information systems and beyond. Thus, in January of 1997, we created what is now Legacy Associates Foundation. The purpose of this organization was to formally bond a group of like-minded individuals who shared a very unique informal, social and business-oriented bond. Through this organization, we have built a force of leadership and support (educationally, economically and socially) for communities across the nation. Legacy Associates Foundation strives to improve the quality of life within our communities via promotion of and involvement in many valuable philanthropic activities. This force of leadership is essential, particularly for youth, in propelling individuals into what lies ahead in the 21st century. With great pride, all members have taken this responsibility and have committed to fulfilling a mutual life-long goal. We, the Men of Legacy Associates Foundation, see our situation as hopeful instead of hopeless and understand that this is the only way to view today's society if we truly believe in our mission. Collectively, we have the brainpower, manpower, unity, determination, and youthful vigor to truly make a difference. Thus, we want to prepare everyone to take a deep breath; Legacy Associates Foundation is here to help clean the air.
