Causes: Arts & Culture, Arts Services, Fund Raising & Fund Distribution
Mission: Since its founding in 1979, the League has worked to enhance the economic and cultural life of the Chicago area by strengthening the operations of area theaters and promoting Chicago's world-class theater scene. Members range from storefront, non- union theaters with budgets under $10,000 to major cultural centers with multi-million dollar productions. The League bridges the gap between their varying needs and skill levels with services that directly impact theaters' administrative and artistic operations as well as promote awareness and visibility for Chicago's vibrant live theater scene. Leveraging the strength of the theater community as a whole, the League develops partnerships and facilitates networks internally and externally that theaters cannot accomplish individually. League partnerships provide the support and leadership to help theaters thrive by developing new audiences; expanding government support for the art and the business of theater (locally, regionally and nationally); expanding earned and contributed revenue sources for theater; providing quality goods and services pro bono or at affordable prices; gaining extensive local and national media coverage.
