Mission: Lanakila pacific's mission is to build independence and an improved quality of life for individuals with cognitive, physical, social, or age related challenges.
Programs: Lanakila workforce resources: offers training opportunities and practical work experience at a network of 52 training and supported worksites to develop the skills, behaviors and confidence needed for individuals to successfully seek, obtain, and maintain employment in the community. Individuals receive paid work experience and specialized training in custodial service, grounds maintenance, silk screening, packaging, and food service (other than lanakila kitchen). Lanakila workforce resources also provides supportive programs that provide individuals an opportunity to gain or improve soft skills that will allow them to expand their personal independence. These skills can improve an individual's ability to retain (continued in schedule o) employment over time, as well as provide a higher quality of living overall.
nutrition services: is the combination of lanakila kitchen and lanakila meals on wheels. Lanakila kitchen provides training for people with disabilities in the preparation of meals for lanakila meals on wheels, schools and other groups in the community. The goal of lanakila kitchen as a workforce program is to develop the skills, behaviors and confidence needed for individuals to successfully seek, obtain and maintain employment. The lanakila meals on wheels program is hawaii's largest and only island-wide meal provider for seniors, serving nearly 382,000 nutritionally balanced meals this past year. The program provides home delivery to over 1,800 homebound seniors each day. Our team of volunteers provide more than a nutritious meal, but also moments of human connection with our seniors (continued in schedule o) and a link to other social services helping them maintain their independence and dignity. In addition, the program provides meals to 910 seniors at 11 "kupuna wellness centers" island-wide. These centers offer nutrition education, counseling, exercise, and socialization in addition to hot nutritious meals that meet the senior's dietary needs. The goal of the program is to prevent senior hunger and premature institutionalization of seniors, which in turn saves money for government, taxpayers, and families and helps seniors live their final years with dignity.
teaching and learning centers: promotes self-advocacy and inclusion in the community for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through innovative classes that promote independence. The program's curriculum focuses on assisting individuals with disabilities to develop and master basic life skills that are sometimes taken for granted. Activity areas include personal and community development, education, home management, prevocational readiness, and recreation/leisure. In addition, activities and excursions are planned to encourage socialization and integration within our community. Served 125 participants.
