Programs: In 2017 the foundation invested nearly $5. 2 million to directly benefit the patients and staff at kootenai health. Listed below are investments made for inpatient and outpatient equipment and technology, as well as patient and community benefit programs. -$5 million to support the capital and facility expansion projects at the hospital. Current projects included the remodel and expansion of the emergency department and operating rooms. -$77,684 for the cancer patient support program, to assist the personal needs of patients undergoing cancer treatments. -$15,534 for the family fund providing emergency resources for kootenai health employees in times of demonstrated acute financial hardship and crisis. -$15,829 for the injury prevention program to purchase bike helmets, swaddle blankets for newborns' safe sleep, and life jackets for water safety. -$11,230 to offset the cost of lodging and maintaining the walden house, a respite facility for patients and family members receiving medical care away from home. -$ 2,898 for continuing education for emergency and geriatric nurse training. -$16,569 in grants for clinical departments serving children with equipment to assist in rehabilitation therapy, supplies to assist with youth behavioral health education, scales to support pediatric and nicu units. -$21,250 to provide a philips clearvue ultrasound machine and sonosim software program-$9,638 for bassinets and a cuddle cot kit for the family birth center. -$3,334 for outpatient care equipment. -$9,669 for a variety of inpatient care equipment.
in 2017 kootenai health foundation provided $12,600 in scholarships to staff at kootenai health and teen volunteers countinuing their education. -$5,600 in scholarships awarded to 4 kootenai health clinical employees from the clinical scholarship program for continuing education to enhance patient care. -$3,000 in scholarships awarded to 3 kootenai health general employees from the pierce family scholarship program for continuing education, training, etc. -$4,000 in scholarships to 4 kootenai health teen volunteers to begin their college education courtesy of the kim svee memorial teen volunteer scholarship program.
