Mission: To support the artistic work of maria genné and her vision of sharing the joy of dance and story, liberating its power to nurture and heal. Maria has done that through using transformational experience of dance to encourage individuals of all ages and from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds in the exploration and expression of their creativity and to foster community development grounded in the unique gifts of each person.
Programs: 2012-2013 has been another exciting year as kairos has continued to bring dance and movement into the lives of many more individuals through its dancing heart and its live performances. We have also continued to work with multiple organizations on a national level to expand and enhance the knowledge of the effects of dance and storytelling on our elders. Maria genne was named an "art hero" by minnesota public television. Kairos is also starting to work with the medical community to bring our expertise in movement and aging to a medical audience. Kairos alive! Is the winner of (3) three national awards; the 2011 rosalinde gilbert innovations in alzheimer's disease caregiver legacy award, the archstone award for excellence in program innovation from the american public health association and the 2008 mind alert award from the american society on aging and most recently was featured in the national pbs documentary, "arts & the mind. "
