Mission: Through the time, talent and resources of corporate, education and community partners, junior achievement of georgia inspires and prepares young people, k-12th grade, to succeed in a global economy. All programs align with georgia's performance standards, teaching students about personal financial literacy, entrepreneurship and global workforce readiness while equipping them with the tools to be personally and professionally successful.
Programs: Ja core programming delivers standards aligned curriculum focusing on financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship. The delivery model is executed by volunteers in grade levels k-12. The number of students served during fye 2017 was 103,151.
ja mba is currently developing an innovative and replicable high school model called the ja academy, launched in 2015 through joint venture pilots with fulton county schools at banneker high school and in 2016 with gwinnett county schools at norcross high school. This model is designed to provide rigorous standards-based education infused with relevant, experiential, and authentic connectivity to the complexities that exist beyond the classroom walls, while concurrently delivering the career readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills that are the hallmarks of a ja education. The model operates as a full immersion "school within a school", with the overall goal of driving ja academy students to achieve greater educational, personal and future professional success. This approach integrates relevant content, interdisciplinary pedagogy, project-based learning, authentic problem-solving and realistic workplace experiences to every aspect of the learning process, thus preparing students for their post-secondary education and career paths. Drawing on jas partnerships throughout the business community, ja academy students have access and connectivity to elite companies through mentors, executive guest seminars, professional advisors, case studies, project-based business challenges, site visits, and internships. The number of students served during fye 2017 was 381. Form 990, part iii, line 4d ja finance park (grade 7) provides students the opportunity to experience their personal financial future first-hand. Students receive a "life situation", complete with job, income, education, and family scenarios. During the current reporting year 14,660 students were served by this program. This program is housed and conducted in partnership with gwinnett county schools. The ja fellows is an after school entrepreneurship and leadership program for motivated high school students. The students create and manage a business under the tutelage of a team of ja volunteers. The total number of students completing the program during fye 2017 was 287.
ja biztown (grade 6) creates a unique opportunity where students interact within a simulated macro-economy, taking on the role of employee, taxpayer and consumer. During the reporting year 15,650 students were served. This program is housed and conducted in partnership with gwinnett county schools.
