Enchanted Closet, Inc.

The Enchanted Closet continues to make a difference in young girls life's. As everyone experienced the pandemic this year, the organization shifted gears and hosted virtual programs to help support the community. Donations were also used to help young students going off to college, who did not get their traditional college graduation experience. This organization goes above and beyond as always to support.

Enchanted Closet is a trailblazer in providing not only the glamour, but the tools young ladies will need to succeed in this world. The entire setup is phenomenal...proms, gala’s and any event requiring beautiful attire is what EC is known for, but their ability to connect with the young ladies and provide outreach in all areas is what attracted me to this great organization.

Enchanted Closet works consistently to provide an uplifting program with tools to assist young ladies with finding their way to a successful future. Their programs truly impacts the girls and changes lives.

Enchanted Closet Inc. Is a constant presence in the community, focusing on building confidence and mentoring young women and boys. What started off as a way to ensure that all young women and young men had an opportunity to participate in proms has grown into a holistic approach to ensuring that these young women and men from low income communities are exposed to many facets of self development and opportunities to grow. This organization has the support of so many well known individuals and organizations in the community because of its accomplishments and mission. The name of the organization doesn't fully capture who they are and the outstanding work they continue to deliver.

Enchanted Closet has continued to develop programs beyond prom giveaways to provide access and avenues of success for young women AND men in the metro Atlanta area. Enchanted closet is a tireless contributor to all things positive for young people here in Atlanta, and a great and giving role model for us all.

I've been involved with this organization for several years and it has consistently served the metropolitan Atlanta community in the most positive of ways. It caters to low and middle income families that may not have the funds to provide formal attire for their girls. They may be stuck making tough choices as to what bills they will not pay in order to pay for their girls to go prom. Enchanted Closet eliminates the stress that these families may have at prom time. The organization has saved Atlanta families over $1,750,000 since 2003 by providing over 6500 dresses to girls. In addition, to providing formal attire, the organization has a GIRL$ Service-Learning Program that provides girls, ages 12-19 years old, the tools for enhance self awareness, self esteem, and self sufficiency. In a time when girls are exposed to so many negative influences in society, it is so important that they be exposed to people who will help elevate their self esteem and self worth to decrease the likelihood that they will fall prey to societal influences that lead to teen pregnancy, school dropout, drug usage, etc. The Enchanted Closet has provided a supportive, nurturing, educational environment where girls are empowered, exposed to greater possibilities, and experience life changing moments that has led them to believe in themselves, start peer led programs at their schools, community organizations, graduate from high school, go to college (many the first in their families) and start businesses. This is powerful life changing organization!

Enchanted closet is one of the best girl’s programs in the state! The absolute reach of Enchanted Closet along with the mission means that hundreds of girls in GA wonderfully benefit from Enchanted Closet. Additionally, the exposure to GA leaders in STEM, Government, Medicine, Communications and the Arts helps to ensure that GA girls who participate in the Enchanted Closet program are that much more prepared to be successful.

I’ve tried many different mentorship and enrichment programs for my introverted teenaged daughter, to no avail. None held her interest or attention. She LOVED the Enchanted Closet from the first event and looks forward, with eagerness, to every chance to meet. I am so grateful for the amazing work this organization is doing in the lives of young women! Kudos to Bonita Johnson and her team for their leadership and vision.

Enchanted Closet is one of the best organized organizations for today’s youth. Activities are limitless for both females and males. There is something for all. Most importantly, leadership and development skills are molded by the strong leadership. Bonita Johnson created a great legacy.

I volunteer on the Enchanted Closet's Program Development Committee. This group works together to develop and deliver programming throughout every month during the school year to help increase the self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-sufficiency of girls. I coordinated the organization's October GIRL$ program, "Tell Me, Then Show Me," which was designed to reduce the fear of public speaking and help girls to confidently express themselves in front of others. The program involved multiple presenters, including a 10-year old motivational speaker, and ended with an improv workshop. At the start of the program, the girls were hesitant to volunteer to answer questions or present in front of the group. By the end of the program, every girl in the room was volunteering to be heard. It was truly amazing to see the girls blossom in such a short period of time. I know in my heart that the Enchanted Closet changed lives that day as they do with all of their programming.

The Enchanted Closet is a volunteer-run organization that has impact. I enjoy serving with women that are innovative and have a heart for the girls of Atlanta. The GIRLS program provides life skills and exposure to program participants and the Prom Dress giveaway ensures that no girl misses her prom because of financial limitations. The Enchanted Closet truly supports girls - both inside and out! Glad to be apart of this organization!

Working with the Enchanted Closet to help girls realize their dreams is one of the most fulfilling things that I have ever had an opportunity to experience.

I came this event a week before my prom not necessarily expecting very much. I understood that this was a free service and thought the best I could hope for was a dress that fit. This was so much more than that. The dresses all were gorgeous, but beyond that, the "fairy godmothers" all were super committed to making sure I felt good about the dress I walked away with and beautiful in it. I must have tried on maybe 6 different dresses before settling on one. Still after they even matched me with jewelry and hair barrets. Honestly, I don't think my prom experience could have at all been any better.

Enchanted Closet is one of the best nonprofits for girls! I've also had the privilege of volunteering and I was truly inspired. They're consistent with hosting monthly classes on anything under the sun to empower young girls. This organization is exactly what we need in today's world to help motivate our youth!

This organization is small by mighty. The Enchanted Closet is run by all volunteers and has managed to serve over 6500 girls in the Metropolitan Atlanta since it was founded. It's Signature Program is the Prom Dress Giveaway . The Enchanted Closet provides prom dresses and accessories to girls who would not be able to attend prom due to the finances. The Enchanted Closet also has a girls mentoring program, which is designed to encourage and support girls in the development of educational and life skills. Monthly programs typically focus on health eating, exercise, public speaking, brand building, etiquette, budgeting, STEM/STEAM, and college prep, to name a few. The organization could not do this without the generous support of the community through donations of dresses, shoes, accessories and monies. With all that the Enchanted Closet does, I am proud to be associated with this positive organization working to make a difference in the lives of girls.

I've had the opportunity to work/partner/appreciate this organizations for over 10 years. The work that they do with our young ladies is unmeasurable in terms of worth. Please continue what you are doing. You will always have my support!

The Enchanted Closet is a GREAT organization. They help young women feel really good about themselves.

I am a single parent, not a lot left after bills are paid, but the Enchanted Closet gave my daughter a chance to pick out a beautiful enchanted dress along with the clutch, shoes, makeup and other accessories. There is no way I could have afforded to purchase a these items for Junior/Senior Prom..But this is the best thing about Enchanted Closet, they didn't make us feel like we were bad people for not having money, they didn't be-little us.. they didn't frown down on me. They treated us like royalty, we had a personal assistant that was super nice as well as patient. I felt like she went above and beyond to help insure my daughter that she had the perfect dress. The entire event was well organized and all of the staff was super nice and helpful. I think that Enchanted Closet is the reason why a lot of teenage girls are able to attend their high school proms and look spectacular while doing so. Thank you Enchanted Closet

From the field trips and workshops, there is something for each and every girl to experience. The enchantment of making over these darling ladies by providing formal dresses and the accessories needed is such a delight. The Enchanted Closet is a very good organization that focuses on a demographic that is often overlooked and because of this group of dedicated members that paradigm is changing. It's much bigger than their highly successful prom dress giveaway, it is an investment in the lives of young ladies to empower them with the tools to be successful in life.

You never know have what it takes to make a difference until we put forth the effort. Sometimes helping others has an adverse affect and you happen to be the recipient of a blessing. This happens for me when I volunteer with Enchanted Closet.

Being part of a blessing. Seeing girls grow and be empowered. Seeing girls share and be transparent where a weaker woman would crumble is like stacking bricks to build an empire. It's work but the result is WOW!

This is the best female established and run organization for girls. This group allows girls to be themselves by demostrating and ecouraging self esteem thru various programs. Th women that started and keep this organization going are great role models for all of the girls they provide services to. Enchanted Closet is an awesome organization. I have been a volunteer with the annual prom dress giveaway since 2010. I must say there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the smile on the face of a young lady and her parent's face after receiving prom attire. Although I have moved, I will come back to GA to help outfit more girls for special occasions.

Enchanted Closet is an amazing organization genuinely dedicated to empowering the lives of young ladies. The lives they are sowing into will inevitably make our world all the better. I'm honored to be a part of this outstanding organization .

This is a great program for teens of all ages and it has alot to show you about the real world, once you join its hard not to go back even once you get older !

The Enchanted Closet continues to do great things and to touch the lives of girls across metropolitan Atlanta! I am so excited to be a part of such a dynamic organization, and I am more excited for our girls!

The Enchanted Closet gives hope and is working daily to develop Atlanta's next leaders. Many young women are able to attend prom with the prom dress program. This is not the only thing this organization succeeds at. There is a yearly component in which they work with girls on a monthly basis covering everything from STEM to safety. The young ladies are able to see through the lives of both the college and adult volunteers that they can achieve greatness. In addition they are becoming leaders oftentimes volunteering themselves when they get to college. I value and support this organization for all it does not once a year but daily within our community.

It is a true honor and joy to serve as a member for Enchanted Closet’s Young Empowerment Board. Knowing that I am able to touch the lives for the next generation is such a powerful way it amazing. Being able to see the fruit of our labor through the young ladies of Metro Atlanta is gift that is indescribable. I have been a Youth Empowerment Board member with The Enchanted Closet for two years and have enjoyed every minute of it. The Enchanted Closet mission is to physically, mentally, and emotionally outfit Metro Atlanta high school girls from low-income families through programs that prepare them for social and professional milestones. From providing formal evening gowns to thousands of metro-Atlanta girls, to hosting health and fitness programs and monthly GIRL$ Programs that promote emotional health and build self-esteem, I can honestly say the organization fulfills that mission and beyond. As a student at Spelman College, I first volunteered at the Annual Prom Dress Giveaway. I loved every moment of working with the girls to create a magical prom experience! I could not wait to get more involved. I was installed as a Youth Empowerment Board Member in January and it has been amazing. This organization works to outfit the young ladies of Metro Atlanta, and it turn fostered my growth in so many ways!

I volunteered with Enchanted Closet before becoming a board member because I admired the mission of the organization. Being the mother of two young ladies, I know how important it is to make them feel self-confident and powerful and I have witnessed this organization make hundreds of young ladies feel the same way.

I am a youth drama student with a student class of 20. We were invited to perform in on the events Ms. Bonita Johnson held at Spelman College in Atlanta. We witnessed the ease, professionalism and engaging manner in which Ms. Johnson interacted with the hundreds of attendees who assembled in the auditorium. She gave a compelling talk to the crowd of young people and parents who attended the event. It was well sponsored with food, literature and an empowerment session that inspired the audience to achieve their goals, reach for their educational goals and other messages to keep them safe from the trappings young people so easily fall into. I know first hand of her support to high school young ladies needing prom dress and college bound students in need of dorm bedding, supplies and more. Every dollar donated to this wonderful organization blesses a young person under Ms. Johnson's watch. About 3 weeks ago, she treated about 100 people to tickets to the touring American Idol show at the Gwinnett Arena. This is truly one of the most serving and outreach serving organizations I know.

I looked on a while before actually deciding to volunteer. I loved what I saw and love the feeling of being able to give my time and service. I'm often conflicted about who is actually benefiting from this experience. I've learned so much!
This is a feel good organization that has allowed me to grow spiritually, mentally and personally.

I've volunteered with Enchanted Closet for the past several years. I've served as a personal shopper for the prom dress giveaway, and I've been a workshop presenter as well.

I am not sure who is happier at the giveaway - the teens or me! It brings me so much joy to see the smiles in their faces when we find the perfect prom dress for the young ladies. No young girl should miss her prom simply because of economics. Enchanted Closet provides an opportunity where there may not have been one.

But, it doesn't stop there. Enchanted Closet is interested in making the young ladies over, not just on the outside. The workshops provided by this great organization exposes the young ladies to information about how to not become victims of exploitation, on etiquette, and college prep. The diversity of the workshops speaks to their concern about ensuring that every young lady is exposed to positive and life-changing messages.

I volunteered with Enchanted Closet, Inc for the 'fluff" (fun stuff), not realizing the impact it would have on my life. The Girls programs are not only fun, but informative, and not only for the participants, but also for the organizers (volunteers). Enchanted Closet has provided me with opportunities that has personally enhanced my life. I feel empowered to make a positive change in someone's life. Enchanted Closet Inc is a Great organization that has exposed me to a world of "G's", Giving, Grattitude, Guidance, Grace and Good times.

I recalled seeing the picture of a young lady wearing the first dress I donated for the prom dress give away and becoming so excited.
Enchanted Closet, INC doesn’t just outfit girls for prom but outfits them for life. With so many negative influences in society, the young ladies of Enchanted Closet, INC. are able to see strong positive role models and learn they can be whatever they want because they have been exposed to so many positive influences. Many of the young ladies who were a part of Enchanted Closet, INC as a young girl have gone to college and continue to give back to their communities because of their exposure to Enchanted Closet, INC.

I wish that I had been involved with Enchanted closet since the start up of the program, This is one of the most exciting programs for young ladies that I have come across . It was the first that I felt compelled to be a port of simple because of what it stands for, Under the great leadership of Bonita Johnson and great board members she brings to the young ladies...life skills, leaderships skills, people skills, etc...the list goes on. The organization not only exposes young ladies to events and opportunities that they "dream " of but she brings them to life. Enchanted Closet is a dream maker academy for young ladies. Promoting your dream to be your reality. Exposing and educating the ladies that anything is possible with the proper tools and guidance. Success is not a reality show...it is your reality. Providing real mentors that are active in the community. Not just someone you hear about or read about. Enchanted Closet is definitely developing a fit mind, body and soul. Constantly giving back to the community.
