This is a gem neatly hidden in the Grand Valley in Western Colorado. Started as a program to mentor science & math students and provide support for District 51 teachers, it has evolved to include a center with a multitude of programs. Family science night, Saturday science hour, opportunities for field trips for children of all ages are a few examples. There are docents available to answer questions and encourage students to explore. The John McConnell Math and Science Center provides hands on "experiments" that illustrate all manner of physics, mathematic, geologic, biologic concepts. Your little ones will not want to leave!

It is such a rewarding experience to volunteer at the Math and Science Center. Each day brings new opportunities to educate young minds and see the wonder in their eyes as they understand the world around them and are introduced to new ideas. Everything is hands-on so you don't have to do all the talking, you can let the exhibits and animals tell their story. The volunteers and staff are great to work with, making for an enjoyable time in a team atmosphere.
