Mission: Since 1965, we have been linking people with jobs by providing career planning, training and job placement assistance. We specialize in preparing individuals to enter the workforce, while meeting a critical need of the business community.
Programs: Training and certificate courses are given to prepare individuals for employment in the fields of heating, air conditioning and ventilation, heavy highway construction, certified nursing assistants, office technology, and office support specialists.
job point's intermediate carpentry trade program participates in the youthbuild & americorps programs and receives funding from community development block grants. Homes are built by participants for purchase by those at or below 80% of the county median income level which addresses the affordable housing deficit. First time home buyers are given preference, and up to 20% of the purchase price may be provided in down payment assistance. Youthbuild assists disadvantaged youth to advance their educational levels, obtain construction skills, develope leadership abilities and advance in a high demand occupation. Americorps's mission is to provide pathways to opportunity for young people entering the workforce.
job point offers assessment and guidance for clients to determine individual potential and a realistic career plan. Support in getting a job includes job trials in the community, awareness of current and future job openings and placement possibilities, assistance completing resumes and job applications, interviewing skills, on-the-job support, and follow of for up to twelve months. Within all our services this year job point served 423 clients with funding from other agencies, grants & donors. Of our adult job seekers 89% maintained employment for 90 days. Annualized earnings from placed clients exceeded job point's annual expenses.
