Programs: Invest jefferson: jei seeks to support and develop inclusive neighborhoods and business districts that allow longtime detroiters to benefit from the city's resurgence. Jei currently has two retail buildings under active redevelopment and 23 mixed income apartment units in preconstruction. Another $64 million of mixed use, mixed income developments are currently in predevelopment. safe jefferson: safe neighborhoods support thriving businesses, a fundamental component of jei's corridor investment strategy. Jei works with wayne state university center for urban studies to monitor crime hotspots and develop community driven responses to crime in the five neighborhoods that it serves. In partnership with the detroit police department, jei raises funds to support secondary police patrols in the neighborhoods. Since 2013, jei has driven a 34% reduction in crime rates including a 75% reduction at targeted hotspots. Jei also funded more than 15,000 hours of additional police patrols. Jei also operates a clean program that removes more than 12 tons of trash from east jefferson annually and maintains over 100 pedestrian trash cans. Key support for this program comes from the hudson webber foundation and the city of detroit's community development block grant nof program.
live jefferson: jei's housing services help long-term detroiters remain in their homes. Through foreclosure prevention counseling, financial literacy education, utility assistance, and the 0% home repair loan program, residents receive technical assistance and support that allows them to benefit from detroit's revitalization and build wealth through homeownership. Jei is the 2nd largest detroit 0% home repair loan intake center, supporting 2164 homeowners with resources to stay in their homes and helped 237 loan applicants to secure $976,841 loan funds.
