Mission: The Ben Eckenhoff Memorial Bike Ride, founded in 1995, is held annually to raise funds for the J. Benjamin Eckenhoff Endowment Fund for Research in Hematology at Stanford University to support the fight against chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and other related diseases, and to commemorate the loss of a dear friend and colleague, Ben Eckenhoff, to CLL. The J. Benjamin Eckenhoff Memorial Foundation organizes the annual fund-raising event; its net proceeds from the event are contributed to the endowment fund at Stanford University.

i did this ride a few years ago, and it was laid-back but fun. it's not the type of event filled with bells and whistles, and you might even get lost, but it's clear that it's done for a good cause and funds go to that, not to someone' s salary. good stuff!
