Mission: Italian home for children provides an integrated network of powerful and effective programs to help children and families with emotional, behavioral, and educational challenges thrive in their communities.
Programs: Cranwood group home (igh) - provides services to children that cannot be safely managed in a community environment and require a higher level of supervision, behavior support and structure to develop self-regulation skills to reduce the frequency and intensity of behaviors that place themselves and others at risk of harm. These services are provided to children ages 4 -12 years old in jamaica plain and at our cranwood campus in east freetown. The igh focuses on family-driven and youth guided services by providing individualized, trauma-informed, strength based services designed to meet the unique needs of each youth and family. Each child participates in individual, family (when applicable), group and milieu therapy. All children go to public school in the community. Treatment is coordinated by a primary clinician in conjunction with milieu staff, nursing staff, educational staff, and a child psychiatrist. An additional component of igh service is the follow along program which provides ongoing support and outreach services. These services may start prior to discharge to better ready the youth and family and continue after discharge from igh with the goal of promoting success and facilitating reintegration in to the community.
