Intercultural Student Experiences

Programs: Cultural immersion abroad program (ciap) - in fiscal year 2017, xperitas provided cultural and language immersion experiences for 1592 american high school students in nine countries including france, spain, germany, costa rica, peru, ecuador, panama, mexico, chile and puerto rico. Students lived with host families, learned about culture through immersion and improved their world language skills.

u. S. Hosting program (ushp) - in fiscal year 2017, xperitas found host families for 124 european high school students in the united states. Over the summer, these students experienced life in the united states, learned about american culture and improved their ability to speak english.

community partnership program - in fiscal year 2017, xperitas sent 10 intergenerational teams of volunteers (participants) to collaborate on community development projects led by indigenous community partners in africa, asia, latin america, and the u. S. A total of 142 participants and program leaders were able to take advantage of this offering.

global learner grants - in fiscal year 2017, xperitas provided immersion and cross-cultural experiences for 51 american high school students in guatemala, mexico, spain and the u. S. Spanish language classes - in fiscal year 2017, xperitas provided spanish language classes to 108 students in 30 classes, using a curriculum that incorporates cultural and social justice themes to promote informed, cross-cultural dialogue surrounding important issues affecting our global community. Xperitas scholarship program - in fiscal year 2017, xperitas provided scholarship funds to 65 low income students in the amount of $60,767. Students applying for scholarship funds must follow an application process and meet household income guidelines. Additional scholarships amounting to $6,000 were awarded to teachers.
