Causes: Public Utilities
Mission: To support social welfare and economic development through promotion of smart grid energy concepts and to provide consumer education about the latest technologies in energy.
Programs: Prusuant to chapter 220, section 5/16-180. 7(d) of the public utilities act of illinois compiled statutes, the foundation received 22,500,000 from two illinois utility corporations. The funds were and will be expended on promoting smart grid energy concepts and education about the latest energy technologies.
section 5/16-180. 6(f) provides for additional funding from the two utility corporations of 5,000,000 per year beginning in 2012 and continuing for ten years. The funds will be used to provide consumer education regarding smart meters and related technologies and services.
