Mission: Ileap renews and inspires social leaders and global citizens through integrated leadership programs that ignite hope and transformation in the world.
Programs: Ileap global programs consist of the international fellowship (if), southeast asia leadership initiative (sali), and latin american leadership initiative (lali). All of our global programs are a long-term investment in community-based leadership in asia, africa, and latin america. Each year, ileap selects a global cohort of grass-roots social leaders from around the world from a highly competitive pool of hundreds to join our unique, cross-cultural and global leadership trainings in seattle. The programs are highly integrated, with a balance between personal reflection and retreat, group learning and dialogue, and professional training in partnership, communication, and effective leadership. Ileap fellows return home to lead their communities with a renewed clarity and commitment to who they are and what they do. In 2014 we welcomed 24 leaders on our various global programs from myanmar, cambodia, el salvador, nicaragua, the democratic republic of congo, guatemala, viet nam, indonesia, honduras, bolivia and the philippines.
ileap's japan programs consist of the social innovation in seattle (siis), social innovation forum japan (sifj), and special short-term programs. These programs are an investment in the next generation of japanese social entrepreneurs and community leaders (ages 18-25) who are prepared to make a positive difference in japan, the united states, and around the world. Participants are selected from a highly competitive, nationwide pool of applicants, with a special emphasis on the tohoku region, to participate in varying length experiential leadership trainings in seattle, washington. At the core of the programs, participants work in team projects and/or internships with prominent businesses like microsoft and goodwill, and receive business mentoring from recognized japanese american leaders in the seattle community. Participants in japan programs also take classes in leadership and entrepreneurship, conduct site visits to social businesses and organizations, and live in an american homestay. In 2014 we hosted over 60 participants from japan on our various japan programs.
ileap worked with eligible graduates of ileap programs who are leading educational and charitable organizations to create an ifund. Ileap graduates are responsible for fundraising donations into the ifund which are later granted to their organization. Ileap provides administration and limited marketing. The ifund is part of ileap's strategy to partner with and support ileap graduates to ignite social change around the world.
