Causes: Health, Medical Disciplines Research
Mission: Changing lives through multidisciplinary, patient-focused research.
Programs: Hmri's research programs are focused on common disease processes including neurologic (alzheimer's, migraine, traumatic brain injury), cardiovascular, liver and gastrointestinal, diseases of pregnancy, and magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy research that supports research across hmri. In 2016 hmri researchers published 32 papers in peer reviewed journals, served on several editorial boards and science advisory boards, and presented their work at local and international conferences. The three major service accomplishments of the year were the ongoing seminar series open to the public covering a wide range of timely medical (cme) and research topics; ongoing enrollment of elderly volunteers in our now institute-wide study of brain aging; and leadership for the imaging research program.
