Mission: Hospice of michigan, inc. Ensures quality of life, comfort, and peace for our patients and provides support for their loved ones during their end-of-life experience. We will serve everyone in our communities who needs and seeks our care and strive to improve the state of comfort care. (continued in schedule o)
Programs: During the year ended december 31, 2017, hom provided $214,000 in charity care. Additional 2017 service accomplishments include: (i) hom maintained 468 volunteers which resulted in approximately 21,500 volunteer hours and a cost savings of $603,125 and approximately 9,586 volunteer visits. 770 patients were visited by volunteers in 2017 with volunteers driving 159,412 unreimbursed miles. 21% of our patients utilize volunteers with 62% of the hours directly serving patients at the bedside through companionship service, caregiver relief, bedside death vigils, music or pet therapy, my stories legacy recording, and other professional services (haircuts, massage, etc. ). The other 38% is split between office or administrative support, other patient care related services and community outreach services. There is a continued effort to focus on veterans and hom continues to pursue opportunities to recruit veteran volunteers to provide companionship to veteran patients. (continued in schedule o)
